OXYGEN USE WITH ALUMINUM CYLINDERS
This cylinder was cleaned for oxygen and oxygen-enriched service at the factory. If you intend to use this cylinder for oxygen or oxygen-enriched service (i.e. with any gas containing oxygen concentrations of 23.5% or more), all components used with the cylinder must be oxygen compatible. It is the responsibility of the cylinder user to ensure that the cylinder and all components are maintained in a proper state of oxygen cleanliness in strict accordance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
OXYGEN ENRICHED GAS USE IN ALUMINUM CYLINDERS - ABOVE 3000 PSI
The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has interpreted its regulations within CFR 49 Section 173.302 (page 691 in 2010 edition) stating that DOT-3AL aluminum cylinders cannot be charged with any gas with an oxygen content exceeding 23.5% to a service pressure greater than 3000 psi. Thus, SCUBA cylinders with a service pressure of 3300 psi (Neutral 80's and Aluminum 100's) should never be charged beyond 3000 psi if fill ed with o xygen enriched air.
